Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
This page has been set up in memory of my late husband Matty Newall, who passed away on the 27th April 2008. Matty was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in September 2007, 6 weeks after our 3rd child Scarlett was born. Initially Matty was only given a few months to live but through the chance given by The Christie to receive chemotherapy, Matty actually went on to live a further 6 months than expected.
The Christie do some amazing work day in day out through research and the care they provide. I would like to help raise as much money as possible to help them continue this work and I am grateful to all donations that are pledged.
Events in 2023 -
The 7th Matty Newall Cocktail Ball took place in April, ,after the planned ball in 2020 was cancelled due to covid. This ball was held jointly with a close friend of our family and was also in the memories of Aidan Carroll; who sadly passed away in 2015 from bone cancer aged just 17, and Jenny Jones, Aidan's mum, who passed away in 2020. A total over over £23,000 was raised on the night and this was split between The Christie and The Teenage Cancer Trust.
On the 10th of September I will be running my 12th Great North Run. This was the first running event I took part in after Matty passed away. Just before Matty died we watched the London Marathon together in the hospice he was in receiving end of life care and that’s where I pledged that I would run a marathon; the Great North Run was in build up to this and has become a yearly event for me.
I would like to thank everyone for their support over the last 15 years. I could not have achieved half the things I have since Matty passed away without this.
