Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving Page.
On 26 September I will be wearing a comfortable pair of trainers to be at the start line for the Shine Night Half Marathon Walk to see London in a new light! I am just one person, by joining forces with others on the Shine Night Walk I hope that together we will make a difference to finding a cure for Cancer by raising money for Cancer Research
We have all been affected by cancer, a parent, a child, sibling, friend, colleague or are experiencing the disease.
In 1985 my mum's life and her family's was turned upside down being told that she had cancer. My mum received treatment however within a very short time we were told it was terminal and my mum had 3 weeks to live. My mum was amazing, loving, lively and determined, yet thoughtful, caring and generous and considered others needs before her own. My mum was a fighter, she outlived the predictions of the doctors and because of her determination I am blessed that my mum was alive to celebrate my 21st Birthday, my mum passed away shortly after. My mum was a very special person, my best friend, we laughed and cried together, I loved her with the whole of my heart.
I have known an incredible lady, a friend, Caroline, for 39 years. In 2014 Caroline was diagnosed with Cancer and has endured this disease for 12 months. Caroline's positive approach has been nothing but an inspiration to me, her family, friends and work colleagues. Caroline is bubbly, generous, caring and has a heart-warming smile and never stops living, laughing and loving. Caroline has shown determination, strength, courage and hope and is now in a far better place than 12 months ago. I am grateful to Caroline for her sharing her journey.and through the power and strength of her love, her family, friends, the doctors, nurses and money raised for Cancer Research there will be many more positive stories and others will get to spend the most valuable commodity to us, time, with their family and friends.
No matter how much money we have, we can't buy back a moment from the past, we don't always have time, maybe, we don't have as much time as we think. I would be so grateful if you take the time in sponsoring me and make a donation to Cancer Research. My thanks go to all those who cared for my mum and Caroline. I also thank Caroline for her permission to share her story.
Shine NIght Walk is a unique event in which money is raised for all Cancer Research UK research into over 200 types of cancer. Cancer Research doesn't receive Government funding for their research so their life-saving work relies on money raised. Thanks to supporters millions of lives have been saved discovering new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. Over the past century, scientists, doctors and nurses have made consistent progress in the fight again cancer and the survival rates have doubled over the past 40 years. It can't stop there, so thank you for taking the time in reading my JustGiving Page and for your donation and contribution in supporting Cancer Research.
