Story
So, it is has been a life-long goal to climb Mount Kilimanjaro and this year is the year!! Between the 7th and 16th Oct 2011 I will be climbing Africa's highest peak which stands at 5,895 metres high. Kilimanjaro is the world's highest freestanding mountain and summiting it is no piece of cake!
While I am doing this I decided to climb with a purpose. So, in 2011 I will be climbing a Mountain for Mercy. More specifically, I will be using this climb as an opportunity to raise awareness of, and money for, a great charity called Mercy Ministries.
Mercy Ministries is an International charity dedicated to providing a free-of-charge residential programme for young women, suffering from life controlling issues such as eating disorders, self-harm, depression and the effects of abuse. There is a desperate need for organisations like Mercy to provide the support that tackles the root causes of these issues, rather than merely medicating the symptoms. MMUK are committed to providing the young women they serve with the most excellent programme services that allow them to recognise their self-worth and prepares them to reach their full potential.
2010 saw the MMUK home extended from 10 beds to 22 beds. Currently we are only able to fill 13 of those beds. That is 9 beds that lay empty every night that could be providing a safe place for broken young women to come and find healing and freedom from their life controlling issues. Please sponsor me to climb Kilimanjaro in 2011 and every penny will go towards transforming lives and restoring hope to young women.
It is not how much you give that matters to me, but the support that your donation represents. I really appreciate any contribution that you are able to make. Much love, Michelle x
