Race for Life Birmingham (Cannon Hill Park) 2014 · 29 June 2014 ·
Ok so if I'm being honest, I started running to lose weight for my sisters wedding in September as I'm going to be a very proud maid of honour and don't want to look back at the photos wishing I'd done something about myself in time for the big day.
However, as I've started to build up my distance and fitness I'm really enjoying going out everyday and challenging myself to gradually do better. So I thought why not challenge myself and raise money for a cause close to my heart at the same time! This way I'll be motivated to keep pushing myself for something far better than feeling good in a dress (although it would be a great bonus!)
My Nan was an amazing person, probably the strongest woman I'll ever know (as well as my mom!) She lived through the war, gave birth to 9 children without pain relief and then got on with the housework and she never complained at all. She always had time and patience for others was everybody's friend. Sadly, cancer took her from us 2 years ago at the age of 90. My nan still didn't complain or even ask for pain relief at the very end. She must of been suffering for a long time in silence without bothering anyone with her troubles but just being happy to welcome any visitors. If my nan can do all that she did in her life, I'm sure I can run 5k without complaining and hopefully I'll raise some money that could help someone like my nan one day.
I'm being realistic about my target as I don't know if anyone other than my mom, sisters and Brendan will sponsor me but any donations would be greatly appreciated.
Right that's it now then I need to get fit quick and hopefully I'll run the whole way... Wish me luck!!
