On June 30th our whole worlds were turned upside down. My big sis got the dreaded diagnosis of Leukaemia . Totally out of the blue !
In true Natalie style she didn’t settle for one type, she’s got a pair!
Acute myeloid & acute lymphoblastic. This cancer affects the red & white blood cells making the treatment very tricky & unique to say the least.
And so rare, she’s the only person in the world with this.
Nat has undergone intense 6hr a day chemotherapy & spent a month in Wexham park hospital.
During this time she has been very sick, had endless blood transfusions, daily infections, rashes over her body. To say she has been through the mill is an understatement.
Once Nat goes in to remission, she will need a bone marrow transplant which will hopefully save her life. I pray I will be a match being her sibling 🙏
The ward Natalie has been staying in is called Eden. The staff have all been wonderful & Natalie has received the most amazing care . They have had the pleasure of her cheeky personality too.
Nat got talking to the nurse in charge about how smoothly the ward operates only to find out how underfunded it is.
It costs £600 to train one nurse to perform chemotherapy on a patient.
So I’d like to step up to the challenge of running the NYC marathon this year and raise funds for these kind human beings who just give so much.
Please donate whatever you can because you never know what’s round the corner!
