Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As many of my friends and family are aware, on the 26th October 2016 at 12.20 my Dad ran through my front door and told me the most heartbreaking news that my Uncle, Gary Martin, had been killed in on the Eastern Road, Portsmouth. I remember every detail of that day, and it haunts me. I could not cry. I just screamed.

Then after looking into road crashes, I was told exactly how often that they happen and how 61 people are killed or seriously injured each day on our roads. This made me think of all the other families that have had to go through that same feeling like we had been through that day, and unfortunately the families in the future that this would happen to.

To keep me busy and to raise money for such an important charity I decided to do this crazy thing and abseil the orbit tower in London on 25th June 2017. I will also be abseiling the Spinnaker Tower on 17th June 2017 at 1130.

Road crashes are not accidents; they are devastating and preventable events, not chance mishaps. Calling them accidents undermines work to make roads safer, and can cause insult to families whose lives have been torn apart by needless casualties

Thank you for reading my story,

Michelle xx
