A carers story
Cathy cares for her daughter, now aged 8, who was born with Down’s Syndrome. It was a complete shock when her daughter, Amy, was born and they got very little help from anyone. Cathy and her husband bought a laptop and searched on the Internet for information.
Amy still needs a lot of support as she can be slow or tired but they try to encourage her independence. She still wets the bed which affects Cathy’s own sleep. Cathy believes that the public don’t always understand – for example when Amy was 6 she was still in nappies but restaurants had no suitable facilities for older children.
Please help me to fundraise for a creche so that poeple like Cathy can access valuable training, information and support.
