We would like to thank you in advance for taking a moment of your time to read this information
A young man died on 11 January 2008 in Pizza Hut Bexleyheath. He was a special constable who started in his teenage years as a Police Cadet and went on to work for Bexley CCTV to help keep the streets of Bexleyheath safe, he was also a known name in the borough for his legendary discos – ‘Oh What A Night’
Paul Wilkins died of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (S.A.D.S) He was 22 years old and it was his birthday the day he passed away.
For the last 3 years every January we have held a charity night to celebrate Paul’s birthday, write up for these events are always covered by our local news shopper and are published in the CRY magazine, which is published twice a year. In 2009 we raised £2500 and in 2010 we raised £2800 despite very inclement weather conditions ! Last year we excelled our selves and raised a staggering £3500 !!!!! Many companies donate gifts for the raffle and auctions, many also donate straight to the charity. None of this would have been possible without all the help and support we have received from generous companies and personal donations over the years
Many people cannot attend the event in January, so we have set up the just giving website to make it easier for those people who would like to donate to such a good cause.
Sudden Adult Death Syndrome claims 14 young people in the U.K each week. We all have children, friends and grandchildren who could be struck by this out of the blue as Paul’s family were.
CRY was founded in 1995 to raise awareness of Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) Sudden Cardiac Death (SCD) and Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS, SADS)
