Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Robin was diagnosed with Cancer on 30 June 2019 following months of investigations, pain and discomfort. He had a tumour removed from his bowel in July 2019, recovered from the op and started Chemotherapy in September as unfortunately there was indication the Cancer had spread outside the bowel. He continued with Chemo until March 2020 when Covid struck. Once restrictions eased he was able to have further investigative tests around July/August 2020. We were informed on 16 September 2020 that unfortunately his Cancer was Terminal as had spread to other areas. We had been together for years but didn't get round to tying the knot so we decided to do that and arranged our wedding in a few weeks which took place on 24 October 2020, just as government restrictions tightened, we had an amazing wedding day even though numbers were restricted to 15.
Robin restarted Chemo after the wedding on 30 October 2020, which he had every 2 weeks (blood levels permitting and if was well enough). On 23 September 2021, we received the devastating news that the last 3 months Chemo had become ineffective and the Cancer had become aggressive and there was no further treatment that could be offered, he would be referred to St Catherine's Hospice. Unfortunately Robin had been experiencing a lot of pain and discomfort for about a month earlier and put it down to the side effects of Chemo. He deteriorated quite quickly and was admitted into Hospital on Tuesday 28 September, we tried to make arrangements for him to come home to spend his last remaining weeks but he very sadly passed away on Sunday 3 October, age 45.
Throughout the last few years, Robin had been so very strong, positive and determined to beat Cancer and fought to the very end, he never broadcast the pain, worry and stress he was enduring and protected his family from this as much as he could, he wanted to carry on and lead a normal life and longed to get back to work, a job he adored and took so much pride in, building class 3 bio-medical safety cabinets for use in laboratories for testing diseases like cancer and more recently Covid. He also wanted to get back to his favourite hobby which had been his passion in life for over 30 years - hot air balloons. He was an amazing person with a cracking sense of humour and sarcasm which will live on through his step-daughters (who he regarded as his own) and me and no doubt everyone who knows him.
Please help us in raising some money for Rosemere Cancer Foundation who are a small charity that made a big difference in caring and supporting Robin and our family through a very tough time, this will ensure they can care and support other families in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to read Robin's journey through Cancer over the last few years, may he rest in peace.
