Story
In February 2018 I, Michelle, volunteered to join the London
Search and Rescue team. Our role is to help find vulnerable and despondent people who are reported missing and are at risk.
As part of this I have learnt map reading skills and discovered my love of walking.
When COVID-19 hit us last March 2020 my husband and I set ourselves a challenge to walk 250 miles. We got to 350 miles by the end of the year.
This year we have decided to expand our challenge but also to use it to raise much needed funds for the Make a Wish foundations UK to grant 1000 critically ill children and their families magical wishes.
Our 1000-kilometre walking challenge is a tough one, we have
to maintain our walks every week throughout the year, fitting around our work and other commitments like being grandparents, running a Scout Group and volunteering for London Search and Rescue.
We will record our walks using our ViewRanger and Outdoor
Active Apps, you will be able to see our progress. We’ll also take lots of
photos of our challenge along the way.
