Story

I watched my work college Andrew go through an extremely tough time at the back end of last year and the beginning of 2014, and I would like to raise as much money as I can in memory of his brave and beautiful nephew Ethan….

Ethan’s parents Philip and Karen have explained their story below.

“Ethan Robert Caunce or “ERC” as he was sometimes known was a very special boy. He was the best son anyone could have wished for and we did everything together as a family. We are grateful that we were able to enjoy every minute of Ethan’s short life and even though Ethan was only 6 years old he touched a lot of hearts in that very short space of time. Words cannot describe how very proud of him we are.

Ethan was a very caring and loving child. He really enjoyed school and playing with all his friends. He would often come home from school and tell us what everyone had been up to, even the teachers!

Ethan began to feel poorly over the Christmas holidays. Whilst visiting his baby sister Lily in Wigan hospital on New Years Eve Ethan collapsed and was taken to A&E. After a scan he was transferred to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital by the emergency NWTS ambulance. Once at the hospital he was taken straight into theatre to release the pressure inside his head. On New Years Day he underwent a 9 hour operation to remove a tumor called Melulloblastoma. Over the course of the next 9 weeks Ethan underwent a further 6 operations on his brain, chemotherapy sessions, physiotherapy sessions and began his planning for radiotherapy at The Christie Hospital. Whilst Ethan was receiving treatment in Manchester Children’s Hospital we were able to stay at Ronald McDonald House. The treatment allowed Ethan to return home in March for 5 weeks and enjoy precious time at home with his family and friends. He made several visits into school for golden time and Y1 class photograph.

During April Ethan returned to hospital and underwent a further operation on his brain but sadly on April 17th Ethan lost his battle with cancer.”

Being a mum of three beautiful children myself this story touched my heart and I just had to do something to raise funds for Ethan’s chosen charity CLIC Sargent.

Please donate to this worthy cause and thanks for taking the time to read Ethan’s story.

All the best

Michelle.
