The Rhabdomyosarcoma Research Fund at CCLG is funding research into rhabdomyosarcoma, an aggressive type of childhood cancer.

Story

Anyone who knows me knows I am not much of a runner, I don’t like the countryside and I hate getting cold, so the idea of running round the cheshire countryside in the middle of November is my idea of fresh hell but I want to raise funds for this small research fund because my good friend Sonya and her family are currently going through their own personal hell. Sonya and Andy’s youngest child Jared was earlier this year diagnosed with a rare form of childhood cancer, he is only 4. He was due to start school this September but now their lives have been turned upside down and are a constant battle of hospital trips, tests and operations. They are traveling between hospitals all over London and the south east to try to get the best treatment for the large tumour in the soft tissue of his stomach. He has also been treated up at Christie’s in Manchester.  The treatment he is receiving is part of a trial and these trials need vital research to try to find the best cure for this type of cancer. Hopefully the trials Jared is taking part in will help another family to get the best treatment for recovery.
