Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 4-5th July 2015 myself and 2 friends will be climbing Ben Nevis at Midnight. (4409 ft high with a 16 km trek).I didn’t even know it was the highest Mountain in the UK or that it was in Scotland until I agreed to do it. So yes this will be a challenge for me, but one I readily accept as it is for such a worthy cause. So weather you are able to donate £1or more please know it is greatly appreciated.
Alzheimers - A disease
known to most by how it takes someone you know and love and
transforms them into a completely different person. A person who
recognises you one minute and then completely forgets who you are the
next.
I'm doing this challenge in memory of my nan Edwina Elrick or Dinah as she liked to be called. She past in November 2012 after years of suffering with this awful disease. She lived a great life until the illness set in and slowly changed the lady we knew and loved. The only time I ever heard my nan curse was in the latter stages of the disease. I had to laugh as it was so unlike her. I loved to sit and listen to all her stories of her time in the Navy, which she remembered as if it happened yesterday, yet she couldn’t remember what she'd done earlier that day. I will always have amazing memories of my nan before the disease struck, like her love of baking and riding her bike I just hope by raising money the Azheimers Society will be able to help more families with there fight against this disease.
Did you know:
There are 850'000
people with Dementia in the UK and its predicted to climb to 1
million by 2025.
I didn't, but now what I do and have witnessed the disease first hand I would like to help fight the Disease, as who knows I could be apart of that Statistic in a few years, and if so I hope a cure has been found by then.
I’m climbing a Mountain to make people aware. What your doing by donating is giving hope. Hope that they'll find a cure. So thank you.
Time to start training.............
