Story
Dan and Michelle are running the Great South Run on Sunday 17th
October and will be running for the Motor Neurone Disease Association and for Michelle’s Aunty, Jacqueline Earley who is living with the illness.
MND is a fatal, progressing neurological disorder that affects
the brain and spinal cord. It interferes with nerves that control movement so that the muscles no longer work. It’s a debilitating disease and can leave the people locked in a failing body unable to move. It doesn’t usually have much affect on the sight, sound and feeling, but It effects up to 5,000 adults in the UK at any one time and around 6 people per day are diagnosed with MND in the UK….There
is no cure.
One charity which aims to free the world of MND, is the
Motor Neurone Disease Association or MNDA for short which focussed on the research, awareness and access for treatment for people with MND. Established over 42 years ago, they raise millions and millions year on year to improve the care and support of MND lives and their affected families across the UK.
So here we are; Dan and I have always been participating in event races over the years, call us hobby runners if you will, doing it for the enjoyment of exercise over anything else.
It’s a going to be a family affair with several of us participating
as well as coming out for the event. Training regime is going well and we're counting down the weeks, hours and nano seconds to be ready to pound the pavements come the day of the big race.
We would be extremely grateful if you would be so kind as to
sponsor Dan & I for this amazing charity and a cause that is close to our hearts. Not to steal the slogan of a well-known Supermarket but “Every little Helps”!
We wish for all our donations to go directly to the North West Kent branch of the charity as they have been instrumental in supporting the family. This will ensure all the donations go to the branch that have been specifically caring for Auntie Jac.
We will keep you updated on our progress and the achievements
of the big day. It’s going to be an amazing event for a great cause and a special lady.
