Story
Hi everyone,
I am running the London marathon next year, for a charity close to my professional heart. Action on pre eclampsia (APEC) not only supports women and families but also provide education for midwives and other healthcare professionals.
Pre-eclampsia is a condition that affects some pregnant women, usually during the second half of pregnancy (from around 20 weeks ) or soon after their baby is delivered. It has some symptoms related of raised blood pressure, which left undetected can lead to seizures (fits) which can become life threatening
Although many cases are mild, the condition can lead to serious complications for both mother and baby if it's not monitored and treated. The earlier pre-eclampsia is diagnosed and monitored, the better the outlook for mother and baby.
Pre eclampsia is a disease in pregnancy which I've witnessed first hand as a midwife. Seeing the devastating effects of women being extremely poorly to the point intensive care is required and really upsetting helping a family through a birth where they are unable to take their baby home.
I will be training hard and I will be doing fundraising events to hopefully raise money towards my goal of £2000 for this brilliant cause Please give what you can every penny helps this charity to not only raise awareness but educates healthcare professionals and keep them up to date so we can provide the best care.
So get donating people to help me on my way to my biggest challenge yet.
