Story

Everyone, I did it and survived to tell the tale! Wow, what a day... started at about 5:45 a.m with the realisation that I had no shorts! Eeek what do you do when the shops don't open til 11:00 and you start running at 9:45! Aaargh....  Well sis saved the day with a pair hidden in the depths of her wardrobe otherwise just my knickers were about to do the marathon!

Anyway, set off for Blackheath, atmosphere already building. Then we were on our way. What a crowd they were fabulous, really encouraging, kept me going through the difficult patches. Almost say I breezed through to 15 miles, but it was warm and busy and I wanted a sofa. Cramped up at 20, my thighs were almost numb, but kept it going run/walking, then turned the corner at buck palace and there is was THE FINISH LINE. The end of an arduous year of training through snow, ice, fatigue and boredom pounding concrete but I DID IT. The proof is there for all to see, I got a very heavy medal and a t-shirt for my effors AND more importantly I reached my £500 target with more still to come.

What can I say friends and family, you have been wonderful. A very special thanks to my husband Dave who's put up with my moans and groans, watching the back of me disappear out the door on another training run, the times I've fallen asleep! A huge thank you my sister AND her shorts, without her it could have made for a very red faced day! And both again for supporting me so much on the day itself. Mum, sorry I whinged down the phone so often when we chatted, I know you were just as relieved as I was when it was over! And finally, Steve for your valuable training tips and vaseline application advice, all ensuring a smooth and painfree journey!

I'm am proud of my achievement but also thankful that I have such a wonderful circle of people behind me, supporting me in what I do.

To everyone thank you for your belief in me, that I could achieve this and a big big thank you for all your donations.

Although at the end of all the training I said never again... I'm now thinking "never say never"!

Thanks again and love to you all...

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page to raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance.

Why am I doing it? Because I like a challenge or at least I keep telling myself that!

But really, I'm doing it for the Great North Air Ambulance because it provides such a critical service particularly for those who live, work and play in the Lakes and Northern regions.

Donating through JustGiving is easy and secure. Your details are  never sold on you won't be bombarded with unwanted emails.

Once you donate, you're money will be sent directly to the Great North Air Ambulance charity and Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. It’s a quick way to donate and I can raise more, whilst saving time and costs for my charity.

Make all the sweat, blisters and hours on the road pay off on Sunday April 17th and donate what you can now.

Many thanks.
