I am running in the Great Scottish Run Half Marathon in September 2019. To raise funds for Bowel Cancer.
I was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer in September 2016 .
I Had radiotherapy and chemo for 5 weeks in December 2016 to reduce the size of the tumour then I had my first operation in February 2017 to remove the tumour from my lower bowel, I had a ileostomy for 6 months to allow my bowel to heal , then I had the reversal surgery in July 2017. At my yearly scan it was discovered that some bowel cancer cells had travelled to both my lungs, which would require further surgery . The first surgery was in May 2018 and the second was in October 2018..
I have been back to see the doctors since and I have been told that my lungs are clear .
Now I will get a scan in January and fingers crossed that will be clear too and life can get back to normal . I will be training hard to get back my fitness so that I can at last complete a half marathon( a goal I set myself for last years half Marathon but was unable to complete) and raise money for a worth while cause
Update *
My scan in January was clear , but at my last scan in August it was discovered after a PET scan that I have cancer in my right lung and lymph nodes. I am going for a bronchoscope biopsy on the 24th September to determine if it is secondary bowel cancer or if it’s actually Primary lung cancer , the results of the biopsy will determine what the treatment plan will be this time. I have been told I can go ahead and run the half marathon as I still feel healthy enough and I have trained since February for it . I am going to enjoy the day and raise some much needed funds for bowel cancer .
Thank you so much for your kind donation and support
