Story

Nobody expects to end up needing a transplant but that's life, we don't know what lies ahead. If you would consider giving an amount of money you feel comfortable with to Royal Papworth Hospital so they can continue their fantastic work, I would be extremely grateful.

30 years ago my own heart was failing and without a new one I would not last a year and with a 16 month old little girl this was the worst possible news but I was extremely lucky and got the call to say a donor heart had been found. A kind soul had made the ultimate sacrifice in losing their life but because of their generosity in becoming an organ donor and informing their loved ones of their wishes, I was by my husbands side to see our daughter grow up.

Having a transplant meant I could lead a full life, being able to train for my dream career & work in that field. I got to have holidays, celebrate with friends & family, making some wonderful memories with lots of love and laughter. I'm truly grateful for the good times.

The medical side of having a transplant is not an easy one but because of the wonderful care of the fantastic team at Papworth Hospital now know as Royal Papworth Hospital, the journey has been made so much easier. I've always found Papworth to be my second home, you can ask questions without feeling daft and know you will always be listened to, they are very professional, informative, caring with lovely senses of humour. They have made me feel very safe in their care.
