Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Remember that time I signed up for a swim in Salford Canal and said never again! Here I am...2 years later signing up for the swim again! This time I am 4 stones lighter but it doesn't mean this will be any easier as I am out of practice and only 3 months to go so intense training will be required in the next couple of months!
I am raising money for CMT Kids UK because I believe it's a brilliant cause. The charity organises activity weekends for kids who suffer from CMT all over the UK, helping them increase their confidence and self belief but also giving them the chance to have lot of fun in a safe and equipped sports environment. By canoeing, rock climbing, abseiling and caving with wheelchairs, crutches and specialised equipment, the kids are able to take part in activities that they would normally not be able to due to their disability. I actively participate at these weekends and I can honestly say that the positiveness and confidence these activity weekends give to the children makes it all worth it. They go back to school and their daily lives with a big smile on their face. My husband also suffers from CMT and struggles daily. Although it's not life threatening it still means that he's unable to take a long stroll with me without his knees and legs starting to get wobbly and making a cup of tea is always a challenge without spilling it everywhere! It's degenerative so he won't be getting any better (at making the cups of tea AND carrying them!) but he's involvement in this charity and the positive changes in the kids life is what is keeping him going. The charity gave him and other kids the opportunity of making life long friends and meet people who are going through the same struggles.
Please please please donate I can't stress enough how brilliant this cause is and it's very close to my heart 💓
