Having lived in the Caribbean for eight years I have experienced first hand how families, communities and whole islands are affected by natural disasters.

From two thirds of Montserrat being swallowed by a pyroclastic cloud in 1997 to hurricane Ivan flattening 80% of Grenada in 2004; the 2010 Haiti earthquake however really hit home as a close family friend died under the rubbles of a hotel in Port-au-Prince.

Long since forgotten the people and especially the children of Haiti still suffer from the aftermath of the quake.
