Some of you may be surprised to hear that I'm donning my lycra and heading off to Paris on a sponsored ride. But of all the Charities this one seems to be the most important - to make a difference to the appalling poverty -now. So I thought I would do something- however small- to help them.  I want people who have far less than us to have access to clean drinking water, medicines and education- something we have freely available.

For those of you who know me better, it may occur to you that for me to cycle to Paris is no enormous hardship (like swimming the Channel or climbing Everest would be)- Fair enough, but it will stretch me quite a bit - I have never cycled 300 miles in 4 days before- and so will involve some reasonable effort, as well as training beforehand. For a man (almost) fresh out of hospital ( I smashed my cheeckbone in two places) that's no mean feet ;-). Yes I am better now, with my titanium plate, but the training regime has suffered.
