Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
As you are all aware, it has been my honour to support my good friend Steve Prescott through difficult times over the past few years.
Steve Prescott played Rugby League for St Helens, Hull, Wakefield, Ireland and was a GB Lions Tourist.
In September 2006, Steve was diagnosed with Pseudomyxoma Peritonei a rare form of Cancer, he was told that he would not see his two children grow up; he was given months to live. He underwent an Emergency Operation in Basingstoke Hospital and a tumour was removed from his Stomach.
The Steve Prescott Fund was formed immediately by a group of Rugby League Supporters they raised money for Steve and his family so Steve could concentrate on his battle against Cancer. Over the next year Steve defied medical experts and managed to build himself up to his rugby playing weight by spending hours in Gym.
At a Wigan v Saints Charity Supporters match in August 2007 for Christies Hospital Manchester Steve was invited to be the Guest of Honour, it was decided in a conversation between Steve and I that we would start to raise money for the two organisations that had supported Steve throughout his ordeal Christies and the RFL Benevolent Fund. The Steve Prescott Fund was ceased and the Steve Prescott Foundation created.
As the Chairman of the Steve Prescott Foundation when i seen the calibre of athletes that we had pulled together for the Carnegie Challenge it was obvious that i was not at the level of fitness to be able to ride alongside during the 720 miles Cycling through France. So when you are sponsoring me you will know that i will be on my own at the back, a solitary cyclists "attacking" the French Mountains. You will also have in your minds that the money you have sponsored me for, may "pay" for the last time you see me in one piece.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Steve Prescott Foundation gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
