Story
Last year I had the crazy idea that in my 40th year of life, I would run 40 half marathons. I decided, that the shape I was in that was never going to happen and I would just concentrate on getting in a reasonable shape for Berlin Marathon 2021 which I really hope will go ahead on 26th September (if it doesn’t, I will do a virtual route on that same date)
At New Year, I decided I want to be Fit, Not Fat when I turn 40 in December, so got on a mission to lose weight, get fit and aim to smash my last time in Berlin when I was there in 2018. This reignited my plan to run 40 half marathons before my 40th Birthday on 5th December. It’s now 15th April and I have 8 already under my belt, which leaves me roughly 1 half marathon per week to complete the 40 by 5th December.
In addition to the 40 half Marathons and Berlin in September, if I can lose another 2 stone, (to get me below the max allowable weight) I will sign up for a Tandem skydive, which I hope to do around early October once I have run the Marathon.
I have decided that SAMH is a great cause who are going to need a lot of funding as we come out the other side of the pandemic. Mental Health issues and suicide rates have taken a drastic climb in recent years and as a Mental Health First Aider at work and also with good friends & family members who suffer the black dog, I really want to make a difference.
The obscure target amount relates to the amount of km I will cover for the challenge itself, (minus all the other training runs) 40x21.1 + 42.2
