The cure for cancer sometimes does not come soon enough. Last year for my Auntie Liz, this was the case and she was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2018. I am looking to run in the Torbay Half Marathon this year to raise money for the Isabel Hospice who will be helping and caring for her when the time comes.
The word 'terminal' is a hard word to swallow and to know that there is nothing you can do, it is so important to make sure that the time you have left together is the best it can be. The Isabel Hospice is all about helping people to live well for as long as possible and to have a good death in the place of their choice. Although this horrible disease has shortened her life, it has not stopped her from being the bravest, strongest and most amazing person I could know. She is one of the 270,000 people who live in Hertfordshire in which the Isabel Hospice provides palliative support.
However without our support, the hospice could not make this possible for their patients and their families, including mine. Each year the Isabel Hospice cares for around 1400 patients and 700 family members, but unfortunately we know that there are even more people out there who need their help too. Every single penny counts and any donation is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
