Story
At 78 Mum had been fit and well, enjoying life and making the most of lockdown, pottering in the garden that she loved. One evening in June last year whilst peeling the potatoes for dinner her arm and face went numb. She was rushed to hospital and shortly afterwards my Dad was phoning us with the devastating words "there's nothing they can do". A week later she was gone. A fatal haemorrhagic stroke. My brothers, Graham and Paul, and I have set ourselves the challenge of completing the West Highland Way together in one go on 28th May in her memory. 96 miles from Milngavie to Fort William, the same route Mum walked in a week with Dad in 2011. She was so delighted to complete it. Most of you know I love running and a good walk but this is well outside my comfort zone. We are aiming to complete the route in 24-30 hours, with support from my Dad and George. There are bound to be some dark moments along the route and the thought of doing this to help others who suffer a stroke is something that will really help give us an extra boost. Thank you so much for your support. Mum would have thought we were all mad but hopefully we will do her proud.
