I am running my first 10k race in memory of my precious mum. Many of you know we lost our matriarch in January this year following a short but tragic battle with a very aggressive strain of MND.

Mum was only diagnosed in September and despite being fit and healthy all her life, she quickly lost the ability to walk, then move unaided at all. This was devastating enough but in December, talking became difficult, followed by eating and drinking. It was devastating for our family but throughout every struggle, mum demonstrated bravery, resilience and an unrelenting determination to keep going and spend Christmas with us. 

She is my hero for so many reasons and I hope this run will be the first of many things I can do to raise awareness and raise funds for MND research. 

Mum was generous, kind and so full of love- I know she would be proud that I am running to hopefully prevent other families in the future suffering the same loss, shock and heartbreak.  

10k might not seem far to some of you but I currently only run Park Run on a Saturday morning so I have some training to do. My aim is to try to finish in under an hour so watch this space and wish me luck! 🏃‍♀️
