THANKS FOR VISTING MY JUSTGIVING PAGE!
You are a legend!
After being inspired by the London Olympics I have dusted off my trainers and have decided to run a half marathon for MNDA (Motor Neurone Disease Association) hopefully raising as much money as I can for the amazing work they do for sufferers and families of people diagnosed with this horrible and unforgiving disease.
5 yrs ago, I had never heard of it, like many others. However in 2007 my Mum was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND)
It all started with trouble in her left leg, attempting to put her foot into flipflop on a sunny family holiday, within a couple of years my family and a team of amazing carers looked after my mum every hour and everyday. After 3 years, Mum died in 2010, she never moaned, never complained, never got angry and never blamed. Her determination to fight the destructive and limiting deteriation of the disease, with unwavering optimism was incredible and inspiring.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting. MND affects how you walk, talk, move, eat, drink and breathe. It can affect any adult at any age. It does not affect the brain or eye functions, meaning sufferers are unaffected in thought, memory, sights and sounds. In effect a patient with MND becomes a prisoner inside their own body.
MND kills one person every eight hours in the UK, more than the number dying of AIDS. Over 6000 people have MND in the UK alone. After diagnosis average life expectancy is 2-5 years.
There is currently no cure for Motor Neurone Disease.
So please help me, to raise as much as I can, anything you can give, anything at all! and hopefully, it will go some way into curing, delaying, or helping those with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) now and in the future. So please, please dig deep and donate now.
