Story
Following my recent success at SHINE (London's Midnight Walking Marathon) in October last year, I'm now competing in the Brighton Half Marathon, raising money for TB Alert!
“TB Alert!” raises awareness of TB (tuberculosis) and supports projects around the world to treat people effectively & stop the disease from spreading.
Tuberculosis is the main killer of people living with HIV in developing countries. Yet TB can be cured even if someone is HIV positive – giving them years more life.
Despite TB being curable, it still manages to kill 1.4 million people a year, that’s 3 people every minute!
Many people think TB was eradicated in the UK. It never was. Last year there were nearly 9000 cases of TB, and nearly 500 deaths from the disease.
There are more cases of TB in the UK than HIV, leukemia or stomach cancer.
My aim is complete the Brighton Half Marathon on Sunday 19 February 2012, and raise a minimum of £250.00 to help their fight against TB...please can I count on your support?
