Story

My name is Michael Tobin!

This expedition to the South Pole is my hardest challenge yet.

I'm giving up my New Years AND my birthday at home with my wonderful family to travel to Antartica on a Russian transport plane and then walk to the Pole dragging all my stuff with me on a sled. (no there will not be any dogs..)

It is very different from running, different from sleeping out, different from other challenges I have done in the past.... This endeavour is a serious, physically challenging, and potentially very dangerous feat.

I will be trekking 12 hours a day in 40 degrees below zero temperature with 24hour daylight and 50kmh crosswinds....

So why am I doing it? Why on earth would you want to walk to the coldest most inhospitable place on the planet?

Well its to raise money for the Brain Tumour Charity. Brain Tumours are the biggest cancer killer in children and we need to find a cure to this terrible disease.

It strikes at any time, and is totally indiscriminate.

You can help tackle this enemy. Your funds give the Charity much needed support and gives us the motivation and the energy to succeed at this great challenge. Please help the charity with your donations and give us a warm feeling by doing so! We are, I am sure, going to need that warmth too.

Let’s be clear about this.
When you give money, you are NOT CROWDFUNDING our trip.
My colleagues and I are paying for this trip ourselves!

ALL DONATED FUNDS GO TO THE CHARITY AND ONLY THE CHARITY.

Thank you so much.
