London 24-hour Swim Relay - 2022 · 11 June 2022 to 12 June 2022 ·

A 24 hour swim relay at Shepperton Open Water Swim to raise money for swimming lessons for children with disabilities.

Story

The first splash. Holding your breath. The echoes of laughter. The wet hair. Lifted spirits. The joy of gliding through water. The smile that lasts all day.Swimming is like nothing else. The skills you develop, the confidence you build and the joys you feel are all universal. Yet access to swimming in the UK is not.Level Water use the power of swimming to improve lives for children with disabilities. Everyone should have the opportunity to learn to swim and fall in love with the water.

So a relay swim over 24 hours with a team of 8, each participant swimming for an hour. My O level maths shows that each swimmer will have to swim three times over the 24 hour period

Team made up primarily of ex cops. I am definitely the ugly ducking of the group not just in looks but also swimming ability.

The events suits my swimming ability, ie, head above water,, slow and doggy paddle, The challenge will be swimming at 3am in water which will still be pretty cold in June. The others will be in wetsuits but don't think I can fit into mine at present. I do have an advantage.in that I will have use of Peter Fitzpatrick's, (Fitzy), camper van for a good warm environment between swims..I do not intend to share!
