Story
The RAAM (Race Across America) is the world’s preeminent and longest running endurance cycling race. It’s considered by many to be the one of the world’s toughest endurance cycling events. Starting in Oceanside, California competitors pass through 12 states, covering over 3081 miles and climb in excess of 170,000 feet before finishing in Annapolis, Maryland.
Back in November 2009 while serving with 3 Rifles in Sanging, Afghanistan i was injured by an I.E.D resulting in me losing both my legs. Now I am training for the RAAM 2017 with a team of injured service personnel in support of Help for Heroes.
Back in 2012 a team of 8 injured soldiers completed the RAAM in 7 days 7 hours and 38 minutes. However this year we are aiming to complete the race in under 7 days!. This is a big challenge a head of us but everyone is training hard and putting the hours in so we can achieve our goal.
The reason i am undertaking this challenge is because life is about pushing your limits, both mentally and physically. I would also like to raise awareness of the strength and determination of injured service personnel and try and raise some money for H4H, who have been amazing in supporting me through my recovery process.
This is a big challenge ahead of us, but i am doing it with an incredible bunch of people and we are raising as much money as we can for a charity that has helped so many sick and wounded soldiers back on their feet.
Thank you for your donation and i will keep you updated on our journey a head.
