Thanks for taking the time to visit my husband's JustGiving page hopefully most of you will know his story already from looking at his blog. He suffered from what is known as Stage 4 Malignant Melanoma, which is a form of terminal cancer commonly, but not in his case, associated with excessive sunbathing.
Salisbury Hospice and the Palliative Care Team based at Salisbury Hospital are focussed on the relief of symptoms of people who are terminally ill and that when an individual reaches their 'end of life' phase it is as comfortable and dignified as possible. They are only 50% public funded with the remainder coming from charitable donations.
Over the last few weeks of his life, Mike spent a lot of time staying with them, as he hit quite a low in terms of his cancer symptoms, they are a fantastic team who have done amazing things. They helped Mike get on top of his symptoms and ensured he had a very dignified and calm end to his life. They were also amazing at supporting me and his close family.
Myself, and two of his best friends, Murray MacDonald and Chris Smith, have decided to take on the challenge of running the Bristol half marathon, to help reach Mike's target donation for the hospice. Please give generously to a great team who gave generously to both myself and Mike in our time of need.
