Story
On the 01/08/20 I had a seizure. It was an extremely scary moment, more so for loved ones than it was for me as I didn’t really know what was going on! It wasn’t long after that I was diagnosed with epilepsy. Initially this hit me very hard. I thought it would change my life in so many different ways and stop me living a full life.
I needed to fight back and change that mindset. I loved running before and didn’t want to stop that, I needed to adjust, to listen to my body more, to hydrate better, to rest better!
So on Good Friday, I’m embarking on a 215 mile starting in Helmsley which is the starting point for the Cleveland Trail, that ends in Filey via Staithes, Whitby & Scarborough. I then pick up the Yorkshire Wolds way which snakes down to Hessle and finally the last part of the Trans Pennine Trail which finishes in Hornsea!
I found a lot of advice about my new condition on the Epilepsy Society website and I’ve spoken to the team.
They need to find a way to further help people, to research to support.
I need to find a way to get through this run.
Let’s find a way.
