Story
Hey boys and girls.
Lynchy has donned the running shoes and his lycra again and is about to embark on the Edinburgh Marathon in, er, Edinburgh on 23 May 2010. Yes I know it is a little late to be sending out a request for donations but hey everybody who knows me knows that Im pretty last minute...
Training has been going alright, although I have picked up an old recurring Ironman injury recently. Don't worry, nothing is going to get in my way of finishing my first marathon only event in less than three weeks now.
Anyway, enough about that. The purpose of this message/web page is to try and get y'all to throw some money my way in aid of Breast Cancer Care. I managed to get an entry in early this time so registering with a charity wasn't compulsory for me to do this event, however, I thought it would be worth while to try and raise awareness of this disease (besides they give me a pink top to wear...) So here is my little bit...
Every year over 46,000 people (in the UK) (mainly women) find out that they have breast cancer. It is the most common form of cancer in the UK. Worldwide, over a million women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year. Each year in the UK around 12,000 women and around 70 men die from breast cancer.
Breast Cancer Care provide a helpline, website, and numerous publications providing detailed information about breast cancer, from diagnosis through to treatment. They provide practical support, and offer that support, either by telephone, one to one, or online forums. They listen to all the people affected by the disease and campaign passionately on issues that will improve the standard of treatment, support, and care for breast cancer sufferers.
So come on everyone, please donate in the aid of Breast Cancer Care. Its a good cause, and your support and donation will make a difference (besides you'll get to see Lynchy run around in lycra and a pink top)
Oh yeah and for an extra incentive, Lynchy has offered to cut all his hair off before the race, again, in aid of the charity. For those of you who know me, and know how much time I spend with my hair, you will know it is quite a sacrifice!!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
Cheers everybody!!!
