Story
The Lowe Brothers (Stu & Mike) are embarking on a 150-mile coast to coast bike ride on 24th JUNE 2017. The iconic route is cycled by hundreds of people every year, usually over 4 or 5 days but we are doing it in a day!
The stunning 150-mile road ride is from the mountainous Western Lake District, through the Yorkshire Dales, across the flat Vale of York and finally the Northern Valleys of North York Moors finishing by the sea in Whitby where hopefully we can tuck into Fish & Chips with pint of local ale.
Over the past 18 months we have personally been effected by losing our Uncle John and a close friend of Mike’s from Cancer as well as another family member suffering from this terrible illness. Mike became good friends with a work colleague Neil (Whitey to his friends) a number of years ago, unfortunately Neil passed away in 2015 aged only 38 leaving behind a wife and young family. Neil was a fit guy who loved riding his bike and Mike enjoyed a number of bike rides with him. Neil was ultra-positive throughout his illness even though he knew he had little time left, he made the most of each day making lasting memories with family and friends. Stu has personally been inspired to get fit again and take on new challenges by a man who he never met. Stu's bike has Neil's old pedals on, this will ensure that we both keep those pedals turning.
This is one of the main reasons we are taking on this huge challenge, if you would be so kind to donate what you can we are looking to raise money for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity who cared for Neil, every penny will be much appreciated.
Thanks for your support
