Story
Jon's Story -
In February 2008 out of the blue one Saturday morning I had an Epileptic Seizure, in the process of this I also cut my head open. I had no history of being Epileptic and when I came around I remembered nothing of that morning's events! it was quite a scary feeling.
I went through the motions over the coming months, hospital visits, various test and various consultants and Doctors. All of which I didn't want to accept help from as they were telling me how I had to adjust my lifestyle and at 21 I wasn't ready to accept that.
I eventually changed Consultants and happened to see a consultant from a London hospital called Dr. Kelso - he changed my whole perception of the situation, introduced me to the Epilepsy Society and told me I didn't have to change everything but enjoy things in moderation. It was only after this that I finally accepted the situation and how I was going to go about dealing with it. My medication changed the third time, and touch wood ... it's been the most effective one yet.
Obviously I have been supported throughout by Family, Friends, Nurses, Doctors and various working colleagues they have all shown a great amount of love and support through it all.
I am running the London Marathon to raise awareness about help that is available, sometimes you can feel lost and alone but rest assured that there will always be someone there to listen that has been through the same situation.
