Story
Myself & Gill are competing in the Blenheim Triathlon to lend our support to good friend, Lewis Coleman & the work he does alongside the team at Bloodwise.
Lewis was a training partner of mine & a man I have great respect for, here is his story...
"In June 2012 my close friend Lewis received the news that his mum, Maggie, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Unfortunately initial chemotherpay didn't work and Maggie needed a trial drug to allow her to undertake a Bone Marrow transplant. These trials are only available because of the funds raised and the work that Bloodwise do, and without this transplant Maggie wouldn't have lived to see Christmas 2012. However, due to the amazing work that Bloodwise do, Maggie was able to spend more precious years with her two boys and loving husband.
After the Bone Marrow Transplant, Maggie went into remission. However, shortly after, the cancer came back and the doctors told her she was now terminal. This is the news no family wishes to receive. But Maggie did not let it get her down and she fought bravely until the end. Unfortunately Maggie lost her brave battle with cancer at the end of last year. But she had one final wish, to see her youngest son Oliver's birthday on November 10th.... She passed away peacefully in the early hours of the 11th. This was a true reflection of Maggie's determination despite having the odds stacked against her. She truly was an inspiration and her inspiring battle has left an impact on so many people's lives, including mine. Bloodwise offered so much support both during and after Maggie's battle, and having seen this I would like to raise as much money as possible to say thank you to Bloodwise, and so they can continue their amazing support.
Hopefully one day they shall find a cure, but to do this they need money raised by us. So please donate anything you can spare for this truly worthy cause."
Any donation will make a difference - thank you
