"'Tis not enough to help the feeble up, but to support him after" - William Shakespeare
This November, myself and 11 other people from Ogilvy will be going to Uganda to work hands-on building a secondary school with a capacity to educate 450 children at a time, and the more crucial capacity to change thousands of lives in future.
Schooling in Uganda terminates at 14 for most children so that they can do jobs of crippling manual labour, and for those lucky enough to stay on class finishes at 2pm so that they can go and work. Many of the children who will attend the school that we are building have been orphaned by AIDs, so this is a project dedicated to turning round the fortunes of those to whom life has dealt a very cruel hand. Once the school is done, Ogilvy will continue to send 3 groups of people a year to drill wells, build an orphanage, and fund farming equipment.
With your donation, the following come for free:
1) The knowledge that you are funding a long-term cause that will continue to affect lives long after we have gone.
2) Guaranteed entry into heaven (only applicable to donations in excess of 1000 pounds, offer subject to terms and conditions)
3) A warm aura of charitability which has been proven to reduce the risk of contracting swine flu.
Please note that the money raised through this page WILL NOT be going towards my flights, but into bricks, mortar, cement, professional builders, furniture, and all the other things that go into making a proper secondary education.
One last thing: I will be out in Uganda over my 25th birthday, so those of you who were planning on throwing money into a kitty for a dirty pint, vomit-inducing round of shots or overweight stripper can instead contribute to something more worthwhile.
