Story
We have all experienced cancer in our lives to some degree; unfortunately I have had to witness this disease in both friends and family. Cancer was always something that happened to others until reality came knocking. In March 2005 my own mother commenced her fight against brain cancer which she eventually lost on my 23rd birthday three months later.
It all started when my wife asked me if I fancied doing the Great North Run, of course enjoying the idea of a challenge I jumped on the internet and registered. Now this got me thinking, 13 miles would it be enough to stand out, make a difference and anybody that knows me will know that I like to push myself the limits so decided to tag the idea of doing the Coast to Coast walk to the front of it. Now the coast to coast walk is not a challenge to be laughed at as this is a 190 mile trek across the rolling terrain that is the Pennines. I shall see some of the most beautiful places and encounter some of the harshest terrain our country has to offer. This challenge commences at the picturesque place of St Bees Head one of my favourite views in the world and concludes in Robin Hoods Bay, North Yorkshire. I am intending in completing the walk in 10 days just in time to run the Great North Run in Newcastle.
