After such an amazing  experience completing my first great north run last year I am taking part in this year's event with my wife Vicky in memory of my mam Barbara and to raise funds for Bowel Cancer UK.

Mam was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer on 13th September 2011 and after a short illness passed away on 1st January 2012.

Barbara had led a very active life and even though she had been under the weather for a few months prior to her diagnosis we had no idea that something as serious as cancer was the cause of mam not feeling too well.

The courage and strength Mam showed leading up to and after diagnosis was inspiring, mam was amazing.

We are raising funds for Bowel Cancer UK a charity that for the past 25 years has been saving lives by raising awareness of bowel cancer, campaigning for best treatment and care and providing practical support and advice.
