Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Daniel's Just-Giving page.
Daniel became unwell on the 31st January 2017 and passed away on the 16th April 2017, after just 11 weeks. He was fit and well until then.
It has been a great shock to all his family, friends and the community. He was first diagnosed with a chest infection but after various treatments at Russell’s Hall Hospital, Stoke and Birmingham Children’s Hospital (BCH), it became apparent that he had Lymphoma. Regrettably, he developed a rare type called Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma which attacks other parts of the body and in Dan’s case it caused severe damage to his lungs. He is only the 4th known child to develop this particular type of Lymphoma.
He fought bravely throughout various treatments including a heart and lung bypass, chest drains, blood transfusions, chemotherapy and much more. His family were so proud of the way in which he dealt with it all.
All those involved in his care and treatment were fantastic and the family cannot fault the care and dedication that he was given. As a result his funeral fund was donated to the BCH split between the Intensive Care Unit and Oncology Department, a total of £3,300.
His primary and secondary schools, as well as his friends have already been raising money which has also gone to the hospital, but the family would like to raise funds for the KIDS Ambulance Service which transported Dan twice. Initially from Dudley to Stoke and then Stoke to Birmingham. They safely transfer critically ill children and this is funded through the NHS. Their service is invaluable and the care and dedication they show is second to none. Donations however help keep the family together to improve the overall experience. It also allows education and research to take place.
Sponsored Swim to be held at Learning4Life, The Wordsley School swimming pool on Sunday 10th September at 1:30pm where Daniel took swimming lessons.
Can you please help raise funds by making a donation to this event?
