Story
Thank you for visiting my page.
If you’re here, you may already know a little about what I’m doing and why I’m doing it. I watched my father shrivel away through cancer when he was only 54, suffering some terrible indignities at the end, and I know that everyone involved in something like that needs all the support they can get.
I wrote recently about learning that a very close friend has been diagnosed with cancer, and that my focus was on contributing to the cost of the support that she and her husband were going to need in the second half of 2014. Sadly, she died on 22 August, just two months after that original diagnosis.
So, along with a good friend, Richard Cooney, I’m cycling nearly 500km in a week in the heat and humidity of SE Asia to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support – a terrific organisation which now offers so much more than the traditional nursing it is widely known for. This will take me well out of my comfort zone (saddle soreness already setting in) but I do think it needs to be difficult to justify people putting hands in pockets.
All contributions will be very gratefully received – especially the big ones!!
I’ll keep updating this page with progress through the next 12 months, including details of past and future events, so come back regularly to see how we’re doing.
Thanks again.
