Story
As many of you are aware, we sadly lost our beautiful brave Mum, Nanny, Wife and friend, Chrissie Foley on 1st July 2020 .
Mum had Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) Which is a type of lung disease that results in scarring (fibrosis) of the lungs for an unknown reason. Over time, the scarring gets worse and it becomes hard to take in a deep breath and the lungs cannot take in enough oxygen.
We found our safe place at The hospice of St Francis back in 2017. Mum and I received the most wonderful support from Faye Richardson and Dr Sharon Chadwick. Honestly, during her illness and the hardest of times they were a phone call away for me. I don't know what I would of done without this support, I truly don't.
Mum passed peacefully, at the beautiful Hospice of St Francis, where she was lovingly cared for by a fabulous team of amazing people
The doctors, nurses, carers, administration staff, cleaners, chefs etc... all made our lovely Mum, our Dad, us all feel very safe and supported over a four week period.
We, as a family, will be forever grateful for the support we all received during such a devastating time for us and with Covid-19 restrictions in place, it brings us great comfort that mum didn't die alone. We were allowed to be with her every day and in the end Dad stayed over night for 8 days.
Shortly after mum passed I told my Dad about the Sky Dive's to raise much needed money for the Hospice of St. Francis. I know he wants to give back in some way and to ultimately make his wife very proud.
Dad’s had such a difficult year. It is heart breaking to witness but I am so proud of how he is managing life without his best friend. Yes, every day is tough for him, yet he carries on, just how mum would have wanted him to. I think he's been incredibly brave.
There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone, their light remains. My mum was such a kind, generous, loving and funny woman and still shines bright. Sadly missed.
