Team Thames21 is going to kayak, canoe, SUP or row a half-marathon along the Thames whilst raising money for Thames21's vital work cleaning and restoring rivers!

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have just retired and want to rekindle an old desire to kayak. As I start training and developing my skills, I am exploring some beautiful local rivers and canals. I see the need to protect these beautiful environments.

My generation has been involved in the rapid destruction of the environment. I see this is many places where I kayak: PLASTIC and POLLUTION!  I want to help reverse this.

I am entering the Thames Regatta on Sun 29 Sept 2019, a 12 mile race in a  kayak, from Putney to Westminster and back to Putney, whilst the Thames barrier is closed.  This is the furthest that I have kayaked and I am up against some much faster kayaks and fitter kayakers. I am racing against the clock with a cut-off time at the half way point!  I would like my efforts to raise money for charity.

I have chosen Thames21, a charity linked to the regatta. They are helping to clean the Thames and it's many tributaries, by restoring river health and rebuilding a relationship between the communities and their rivers.
