Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So.... I have always wanted to run a marathon and after doing a number of halves, I finally signed up last summer to London 2018, as my company had arranged a partnership with the epilepsy society.
It started off as just wanting to get across the line, but as the weeks and months have progressed, I have begun to set myself new goals which have progressively moved from challenging, to ambitious, to delusional.
I have been training relatively hard post Christmas, running 100-150 miles a month, but at the turn of the year I have upped my mileage to 40-50 miles per week.
Only now, after upping this mileage has the gravity of this training regime started to dawn on me, as my body has started to object and fight back against the gruelling schedule.
As I write this at the end of January, 3 months from race day, I have an ice pack strapped to my left knee after visiting my physio Barry, who has touched me in ways I have never been touched before by another man (or woman for that matter). He has done his best to patch me up and send me on my way with a number of advisories.
So I'll be honest, I wanted to do this for myself, but if I can raise a few quid for charity, why not? Therefore it seems right that I get the ball rolling by sponsoring myself and then rely on your goodwill and kindness to top up the rest.
I am really going to make a fist of getting a decent time and the hard work in achieving this will be done on the weeks leading up to race day, so you'll get your monies worth out of me.
And lets face it, who doesn't want to see an estate agent suffer....
Thanks
Michael
P.s. shout out to my dog, Monkey (kids named him) he comes out on most of my runs with me and embarrasses me with his superior fitness. His efforts have got to be worth a few quid too...
