Some words from Matt Budd:-
As you may know, our Son James passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on November 20th 2016 from a cardiac arrest arising from a heart condition called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. We cannot put into words our loss. It goes without saying, our family’s life will never be the same again.
Whilst we knew James had the condition, he was expected to live a full, unrestricted and happy life. Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy affects 1 in 500 people and can (as has been proven with James) lead to sudden unexpected death. It has been report that each week 12 people aged 35 or under, die of an undiagnosed heart condition. This figure does not include people like James, where they have already been diagnosed. We need to help promote more knowledge of the condition, support and encourage heart screening programmes and just as important, increase the research and development into genetic development/knowledge.
We will be formally setting up a charity in memory of James in the near future. However, in the meantime, Paul Lamport and Mike Bryant have volunteered to ride in the London to Brighton bike ride on 18th June 2017. They would like to raise money in memory of James. My Family and I would ask you to support both Paul and Mike by sponsoring them. We would like any proceeds to go to The Miles Frost Fund. Sir David Frost’s son died of the same condition as James and his Brothers are activity trying to raise £1.5m. Details of the charity can be found at https://www.bhf.org.uk/miles-frost-fund
