Story
Please support City Hospice to provide hospice care at home for patients throughout Cardiff.
I'm a retired GP, co-founder and a Vice-President of City Hospice.
Why have I chosen to walk 500km? Well this would mean that I will have walked from Cardiff to St Christopher's Hospice, Sydenham, London and back to Cardiff. It was a visit to St Christopher's as a medical student in 1972 and meeting the pioneer of hospice care, Dr Cicely Saunders, that inspired me to ensure that this care would be available to the people of Cardiff.
Myself and many others have worked tirelessly over 40 years to establish the charity, formerly George Thomas Hospice. City Hospice provides palliative care in their own homes to the people of Cardiff facing terminal and life limiting illnesses.
With a heart condition treated by a quadruple by-pass and two hip replacements I'm currently in self-isolation. My challenge is to walk 5km per day over 100 days by walking over 40 laps per day of my garden. I'll finish on 18th August!
If you can support me and the work of City Hospice, however small your donation, I'd be so grateful. Thank you
