Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am super excited to say I will be running the Miami Half Marathon on Sunday March 4th to raise awareness and funds for the Brain Tumour Charity, a charity very close to my heart after losing my beautiful cousin Vanessa to a brain tumour.
I never thought I’d be writing anything like this again, in fact I was told by many different surgeons at different hospitals that I would definitely not be able to do a marathon again and for a while it looked like I may not be able to return to my career as a flight on board manager. In 2010 I broke my pelvis on a flight and also slipped 4 discs in my lower back, 3 discs were cut down as they were trapping my nerves and one disc remains untreated as I was told if they treat this it’s too close to my nerves and could give me permanent damage. I had 3 Years off sick, 5 months in a wheelchair and in and out of hospital but I am very proud to say I am back flying full time. I pushed myself so hard in gyms and swimming pools most days in severe pain and some sessions in tears to get my back stronger and my mental health stronger. Only my personal trainer knows how much commitment I put in and without him I wouldn’t be able to do this. It has taken 7 years, 6 operations, severe depression, medication, crutches, a wheelchair and constant pain but I can honestly say I’m back on track. I am no longer on medication and am ready to take on this challenge. Whilst working as a volunteer at Christie’s cancer hospital in Manchester for 14 months I know how desperate they are for cures, and for cures they need funds and charities like The Brain Tumour Charity.
I would be eternally grateful if you sponsor me for this half marathon, every penny will make a difference and I am keen to raise as much as possible.
Thank you love M x
