Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'll be 70 quite soon and I thought what better way to celebrate than to cycle from Land's End to John O Groats and raise as much money as I can for Macmillan Cancer Support.  Just about everyone, including me, knows someone who has been affected by cancer.  Macmillan's aim is to make sure that no one faces cancer alone.  With your sponsorship and my pedal power we can make a real difference.

I will be undertaking the trip with my son in law who is raising funds for the British Heart Foundation.  We are planning to carry everything we need with us and so to do it without the aid of a back up vehicle. That scares me a bit, but who dares wins!

I would be really grateful if you could support Macmillan through my JustGiving page. Here's the difference your money could make:

£10 could pay for 19 copies of The Cancer Guide to help someone recently diagnosed with cancer, and their families, understand more about the disease, its treatment and the help available.

£27 could pay for a Macmillan Healthcare Professional for an hour.

£132 could fund a Macmillan cancer information and support officer for a day.

10/04 - Update

Nice easy day only 34 miles with one hill (kirkstone pass) to contend with. Then fast decent passing Brothers Water  arriving at Ullswater in double quick time. I have spent lots of time in my youth in this area, climbing, rambling and 3 courses at the local Outward Bound School. Big problem, we visited the lake steamer jetty and the boat was about to leave for the other end of the lake at Pooley Bridge. I couldn't resist it out came the wallet £10-50 changed hands and me and the bike enjoyed a 1hr boat trip, that brought back memories.  We then met in Pooley Bridge for T and T cake before cycling into Penrith. We both visited a garage and washed the bikes. We are staying at  the Wayfarers bike hostel. Its 1 year old spotless the best power shower of the whole trip,  very comfy. Well thats it for now, of for chinese
Ps will send pics

Now in Lockerbie after a gentle 56 mile ride from  Penrith along empty country lanes, the weather was the best yet. Visited the Lockerbie air disaster memorial before having paster for e vening meal. Its now 9pm and time for bed for tomorrow is another day,  goodnight, Michael.
