We are raising money for the AMMF.

The AMMF is the UK's only Cholangiocarcinoma charity. 

Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA or Bile Duct Cancer) is a rare form of liver cancer which currently takes the lives of in excess of 2500 people per year, and is on the rise. The reason for the rise is currently unknown, and it is now affecting more and more people under the typical age range of 60+.

Treatment is limited to surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy, however in a vast majority of cases these are not available to sufferers as the cancer does not reveal itself until it is in a very late phase.

As it is not one of the main cancers funding is very sparse for them.

We are raising funds in memory of Carol Hall (wife/mother/sister and friend) who in May 2020 was diagnosed with Bile Duct cancer after suffering a unexpected pulmonary embolism and 3 cardiac arrests early one morning. The cancer disguised itself as blood clots and was hard to diagnose, until it was too late.

By the time it was diagnosed treatment was not available as she was too ill. Bravely she battled through until the end of September when her battle became too much, and sadly we lost her.

As a family we decided we needed to help the charity in its mission to help find ways to detect this cancer, ways to treat it and hopefully help save a life.

The AMMF really do need help to raise money for this work to be done. We started our fundraising journey back in October 2020 (with Virgin Money Giving) and to date (02/09/2021) we have managed to raise £6060 to help fund further work.

For the AMMF donations provided can provide the following

• £15 could fund collecting and storing a biofluid sample for CCA research
• £50 could help to fund research into new CCA biomarkers for early diagnosis
• £100 could help to fund research into a treatment to beat CCA

What do we do to help raise funds:

In the past 10 months we have started and completed a series of challenges, to give you and idea of what we are doing or have done:

• Walking the 214 Wainwright fells of the Lake District (Ongoing)
  
• 24hr Gaming Marathons (annual event in March)
• The coast to coast walk (in planning)
• Walking the Cambridge Roman Road (Scheduled for 09/09/2021)
  
• 5 of us are doing the Country Walking 1000mile challenge
• Raffles
• Local music events
